Life OS terms of use

Last updated 15 September 2026. These terms govern your use of the Life OS Android app (com.khanjankavani.lifeos). The website terms are separate. See also the privacy policy and the refund policy.

1. The agreement

Life OS is published by Khanjan Kavani, an individual based in Surat, Gujarat, India. By installing or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, uninstall the app.

Your purchase of Life OS Pro is made through Google Play, and Google's own terms apply to that transaction alongside these.

2. Your licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Life OS on devices you control, for as long as these terms are observed. Life OS Pro unlocks additional features on the Google account that bought it.

You may not resell the app, redistribute a modified copy, attempt to defeat the licence check, or extract the app's code or assets for use elsewhere.

3. What Life OS is not

This section matters more than any other. Read it.

It is not financial, tax, investment, accounting or legal advice. The finance features record what you tell them and do arithmetic on it. Budgets, net worth, analytics, debt schedules and any projection the app shows are your own numbers, calculated from your own entries. They are not a recommendation, not a professional opinion, and not a substitute for an accountant, a tax adviser or a financial adviser. Decisions you make from them are yours.

It is not a medical device or a medication management system. You can set a reminder for anything, including medicine. That does not make Life OS safe to depend on for your health. See section 5.

It is not a backup service. See section 6.

It is not a security product. See section 7.

4. The assistant can be wrong

The built-in assistant runs a small language model on your phone. Small models make mistakes. It can misread a figure, summarise something inaccurately, miss an entry, or state something confidently that is not true.

Treat what it tells you as a starting point to check, not an answer to act on. Where a number matters, look at the underlying record. No liability is accepted for a decision made on the strength of something the assistant said.

5. Reminders and alarms may not fire

Life OS asks Android to wake it at the times you set. Whether that actually happens is decided by your phone, not by the app.

Android's battery optimisation, and the more aggressive task-killing that several manufacturers add on top of it, can delay or silently prevent a scheduled reminder or alarm. This is outside the app's control and cannot be fully worked around. Do not disable battery optimisation and assume the problem is solved, because it is not guaranteed either.

Do not rely on Life OS as your only reminder for anything that matters. That includes medication, medical appointments, legal or tax deadlines, court dates, payments that incur penalties, and travel. Use a second, independent reminder for those. No liability is accepted for a reminder or alarm that does not fire, fires late, or fires silently.

6. Your data, and losing it

Life OS stores everything on your device and nowhere else. There is no account, no server and no cloud copy. That is the point of the app, and it has a consequence you must understand before you rely on it.

If your phone is lost, stolen, damaged, reset, or if you uninstall the app, your Life OS data is gone. There is no copy for anyone to restore, including me. It cannot be recovered afterwards by any means.

Keeping your own copies is your responsibility. The app can export to PDF and Excel at any time. Do it regularly, and keep the exports somewhere other than the same phone.

Data may also be lost through a device fault, an operating system update, a storage failure, or a defect in the app. No liability is accepted for lost, corrupted or unrecoverable data, however it was lost.

7. The Vault, and device security

The Vault encrypts what you put in it and can require your fingerprint or face to open. That protects the contents against someone picking up an unlocked phone. It is not a guarantee against a determined attacker, a compromised or rooted device, malware, or someone who knows your device passcode.

Keeping your device secure, your screen lock strong and your phone out of other people's hands is your responsibility. Consider carefully what you store there. No liability is accepted for unauthorised access to the Vault's contents.

8. Life OS Pro

Pro is a single payment that unlocks the features listed on the upgrade screen. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again. Every Pro feature is free for the first 15 days after install, so you can evaluate the app before deciding.

Google Play processes the payment and holds your payment details. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

Which features sit behind Pro may change in future versions. If a feature you paid for is removed, you keep access to the paid tier as it then exists, and you may request a refund under the refund policy if the change leaves you worse off.

9. The app is provided as it is

Life OS is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind beyond those the law requires, whether express or implied. In particular there is no promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error free, compatible with every device, or fit for any purpose you have in mind for it.

Android is a large and varied platform. Life OS is tested on the devices available to a one-person operation, which is not all of them.

10. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, loss of profit, loss of savings, missed obligations or business interruption arising from your use of, or inability to use, Life OS.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited in total to the amount you actually paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, which for most users is the one-time Pro price and for everyone else is nothing.

Nothing in these terms removes or limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be removed or limited. If you bought Life OS as a consumer in India, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 stand regardless of anything written here, and the limits above apply only so far as that Act and any other applicable law permit. A term that a court finds unenforceable is severed, and the rest continues to apply.

11. Acceptable use

Do not use Life OS to store or process anything unlawful, and do not use it in a way that breaks Indian law or the law where you are. The app runs entirely on your device, so what goes into it is entirely your choice and entirely your responsibility.

12. Changes, and the end of things

The app will change. Features may be added, altered or withdrawn, and support for older Android versions may end. Updates are delivered through Google Play and you can decline them, though an out-of-date version may stop working correctly.

Life OS may be discontinued. If that happens, the app already installed on your phone keeps working with the data already on it, because it needs no server to run. It would simply stop receiving updates.

These terms may be updated. The date at the top changes when they are, and a change that materially reduces your rights will be flagged in the app rather than made quietly.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Surat, Gujarat have jurisdiction, save that this does not deprive you of the right to bring a consumer claim in the forum your local law entitles you to.
